Winter Solstice Candlelight Slow Flow
December 21, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
$20
Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.
Join Sara as she leads you through a slow and steady, essential oil-infused, candlelit vinyasa practice focusing on the Heart – the energetic seat of compassion. We’ll talk about what compassion really means, how to access it within ourselves, and how to practice it out in the real world.
Pema Chödrön writes: “The practice of compassion is daring. It involves learning to relax and allow ourselves to move gently toward what scares us.” There is a vulnerability in the practicing of compassion. To cultivate compassion we must draw from the wholeness of our experience – only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.
The practice of Yoga allows for the emotional and physical release of the things that block our ability to feel and express compassion and reminds us of the importance of taking the time to be with oneself in a loving way. Candlelight will illuminate the community we practice with and remind us of our shared humanity and connectedness.
