How long have you lived in Chattanooga? Since 2012
Tell us about your childhood: My childhood was spent shuttling between Tennessee & Alabama (that’s where my mom’s parents live). It was the absolute best, most typical country life you can imagine down there. Feeding cows, going to open air markets, driving on backroads at night. It was a truly wonderful pair to my fast paced life that I lived with my dad in Murfreesboro…also somewhere to be & people to meet. It was like I never got bored of going fast, but I got to experience what it was like to take it slow.
Do you have a nick name? Nothing crazy….close friends call me Kenz. BUT I did go through this weird thing with one of my best friends where she called me ‘Spencer’ for a while, but that was totally just related to like 1 or 2 people. Haha
When were you introduced to Yoga? I was 18, in my first year of college & I wanted to get some kind of physical thing going. I had already tried a lot of the other sports on our college sign up list, so I was looking to try something new! I’ll admit that it didn’t stick with me right off the bat…it definitely took me a few years to appreciate the effects it had on my mood & body, but damn am I hooked now!
How do yoga and the community play a role in your life? The yoga community here in Chattanooga has brought me many friendships that have helped me grow as a person.
What pose do you love the most and why? I really love any post that is a heart opener…wheel is pretty high up there on the list! I love the way it not only gives you the physical benefits of stretching your front body, it I love the way it also opens up your heart & makes you fee vulnerable.
