Where are you from originally? I was born in Virginia (that’s not why I was named Virginia) but have been living in Tennessee since I was 10!
How long have you lived in Chattanooga? Since November, but I went to Lee University over in Cleveland so I’ve been in the Chattanooga area since 2014!
Tell us about your childhood: I was born and raised on a farm outside of D.C. where I spent my days climbing trees and riding horses. When I wasn’t playing outside I was probably in a theatre production or making up dances in my living room
Do you have a nickname? Some of my friends call me Virg or Virgil but I’ve always thought West would be a cool nickname
When were you introduced to Yoga? In high school, I don’t quite remember when. Yoga, stretching, and meditation has always been a huge part of my life
How do yoga and the community play a role in your life? Yoga is one of the only things that makes me feel grounded. Whenever the thoughts in my head get too loud I like to put on music and dance and stretch my troubles away
What pose do you love the most and why? Probably pigeon or frog because my hip flexors are always a mess haha. But I’ve also been enjoying revolved postures lately, it makes me feel like I’m physically wringing out all the stress and toxins in my body
What is your favorite quote? “Darkness exists to make the light truly count” ~ Sleeping At Last
